Diana Foye is an award-winning lawyer and businesswoman who traded a high-profile corporate career as a lawyer in Sydney to follow her passion by launching Foye Legal in 2015. Her vision for the firm was to provide an antidote to the general clinical approach that was prominent within the legal services industry. As a result, she developed a firm that provides expert and intuitive legal services to suit the personalised needs of each client with a view to empowering those clients to be strong and fearless in the face of adversity, with a strong emphasis on the protection of human rights.
Diana spent 17 years in a thriving legal career representing some of Australia’s largest corporations and insurers at Sydney’s national leading law firms. This experience has proven invaluable as she is able to apply the knowledge and insights over two decades to serve her individual clients and obtain the most favourable outcomes.
She has received high praise for accomplishments, including being named the 2017 IWIB Best New Business, 2017 IBC Start-up Superstar, 2018 IWIB Businesswoman of the Year, 2019 IWIB Best Business, and in recognition of the firm’s success, Foye Legal was recognised as one of the most exciting young businesses in New South Wales as finalist in the 2019 Telstra Business Awards.
My career highlights are the achievements and milestones in starting and building a business that aligns with my vision for legal services. I founded Foye Legal from my home-base, with zero clients, zero staff and zero funding outside of my personal funds. By staying true to my vision of empowering those around me, has helped the firm grow from three employees to 16. This has involved the acquisition of Swan & Co Legal in 2018 and expanding further in 2019 to become an all-service legal firm providing expert lawyers in all areas.
Being a lawyer is ingrained in us, but it’s incredibly hard work building a business. No business would flourish without the team behind it and my incredible team are what make Foye Legal a great business. One of my proudest achievements is building a positive and supportive workplace culture where staff are empowered to provide outstanding services to our clients.
The most recent highlight is having been recognised as one of New South Wales’ best young business in the 2019 Telstra Business Awards encapsulates the meteoric rise of the business. Foye Legal was a NSW finalist in the Emerging and Energised category, which recognises businesses that have been in operation for less than three years but are already making a major impact.
Why Foye Legal
I believe that personal transformation within oneself can cause a ripple effect that can lead to profound social change. With a dwindling passion for working for corporate giants, I clearly saw that my career future was in starting a firm that was aligned with my personal values and that would make a difference in the local community.
At the heart of Foye Legal, we see ourselves as life-long partners with our clients, guiding them through the major events in their lives that afflict us all at some point. Whether that is recovering from a life-changing personal injury, buying or selling their home, experiencing a relationship or family breakdown, preparing for end-of-life matters, I believe that every client deserves a legal team that takes a personal interest in their case.
It is our primary objective to keep our clients, and their families, safe and free from worry and financial hardship in any circumstance.
